Our Southern Lakes team recently completed the new-build and fit-out of the admin and technology block, car park and surrounding areas at the Terrace School in Alexandra. The new facilities will service not only the students at Terrace School but also the other students in the local area.
The project was completed in two stages; stage 1 of the project saw the build of the new admin and tech block. These were handed over under CPU before stage 2 could begin, which was the demolition of the existing builds and a new car park.
Clear lines of communication and delivery structure allowed the team to work well ahead of the contract programme and also deliver to the forecasted budgeted. All stakeholders worked closely together to ensure they were operating efficiently.
A highlight of the project was the sustainability initiatives the team used during the project. A lot of the building waste was diverted from landfill using recycling stations they set up on site. The team worked well with our consultants Powell Fenwhich to overcome any challenges.
The team maintained a strong client relationship, and the project was handed over with a dawn blessing gathering whānau, family, build team, trade partners, friends, students and teachers.
Cook Brothers, along with Frequency, Powell Fenwick Consultants, DesignGroup and the Ministry of Education, were pleased to hand over Te Rau Mātaki, Te Whare Kaimahi, Tari, Te Whare-iti; the technology block, staffroom, and office spaces to the Terrace School so that they may continue their vision to nurture, challenge and inspire Caring, Connected Learners.
