Cook Brothers Otago are thrilled to have completed this amazing new space for Les Mills New Zealand, a project that will, for so many reasons, hold a special place for our team. The impressive fit-out was a result of outstanding teamwork. We are sure that this modern space will inspire our community to feel empowered to achieve their goals.

Located in the basement of the Meridian Mall, Les Mills newest club in Dunedin, is the first facility to incorporate the brands Live Forward concept. This revolves around the idea of embracing mindfulness in the present and making choices that contribute to a better future. The idea of mindfulness is represented using a soft, natural colour palette in the reception, main gym, studio, ablutions, and the general circulation space.

The cycle studio and functional studio are both moody spaces with darker colour palettes and strip lighting. This project in addition to typical services coordination also consisted of collaborating with specialist lighting designers and acoustic engineers to produce adaptable spatial lighting and acoustically separated studios to create comfort for both the gym users and neighboring mall tenants. Throughout this high end fit out, feature terrazzo-look tiles are used in various forms such as faux columns, deep door thresholds, bespoke joinery and floor tiles creating a luxury space for all.

Les Mills has invested more than nine million dollars into the new facility and will continue to bring a world-class fitness offering to the Dunedin community. The new gym is a testament to Les Mills’ commitment to offering leading group fitness classes, cutting-edge fitness equipment and technologies and an inviting atmosphere to inspire and motivate individuals.
