Our Canterbury team have just completed our 8th project for our valued Client, Fire and Emergency NZ. The old station was badly damaged in the Kaikōura earthquake and was unsuitable for ongoing use. To ensure the township was well served, the project consisted of a new purpose-built fire station, with the associated site works to allow it to function, with parking for the responders. |
Located in Kaikōura, 2.5 hours from Christchurch, our Canterbury team thoroughly planned out every detail from programming, Trade Partners, material delivery, and accommodation to minimise the impacts of the remote location.
The building is an IL4 construction with significant structural elements that can withstand an earthquake and function as needed. Manufactured specialist formwork for the numerous construction joins in the exterior slabs, which were used a large number of times.
The new station is now equipped with all the modern facilities and technology to help the fire service undertake and respond to emergencies efficiently and swiftly. The community is thrilled with the project, and our Client is extremely pleased with the result.
