Lauren Wilson is a Quantity Surveyor on our Auckland team. She was recently appointed the Vice-Chair of the Young Quantity Surveyors division at the Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS) and is President of the Quantity Surveyors Emerging Professionals (QSEP).

With over seven years of diverse experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Lauren has made significant contributions to the construction industry. Her projects range from commercial, apartment, and industrial construction valued at over $35 million, to residential developments, school renovations, and exterior works packages.

Lauren’s unwavering commitment to continuous professional development is a testament to her dedication and passion for her career. Her active involvement in various professional organizations and mentoring roles is a clear demonstration of her desire to support the growth and development of her peers within the industry. As the president of QSEP, she spearheads events and workshops that provide invaluable upskilling opportunities for early-career Quantity Surveyors, inspiring others to follow suit in their professional growth.

Lauren recently hosted a round of Speed Mentoring for QSEP at Unitec in Auckland. The event enabled students and Junior Quantity Surveyors to learn more from senior professionals in the field, including career pathways they might have yet to consider, how the seniors got started, and a day in the life of the job. It was also Lauren’s first time as a mentor to share wisdom from her career journey with the next generation.

As part of the event, Lauren also did a presentation about the NZIQS Competencies Programme, which was launched a year ago. The programme covers all the core skills of being a QS, and juniors work through it over about two years before submitting their competency records when they apply for full MNZIQS membership.

Lauren’s diverse experience, strong leadership skills, and unwavering dedication to the construction industry have not only earned her respect but also made her a highly valued professional in her field. Doing her part to support new and upcoming QS professionals across New Zealand and the Pacific region.
