Saul, Brent and Jonty all studied at the Ara Institute of Canterbury in the Pre-trade Carpentry Programme from Feb to November 2022. All three were presented with a Cook Brothers Supercharged Carpentry Student Award last week for their outstanding efforts. This award recognises their standout commitment to their studies, and the supercharged values of Cook Brothers Construction, further transforming the industry.
Congratulations to you all, and we look forward to seeing the incredible spaces you build over your careers!
Read on for these Apprentices' accolades and nominations from the Carpentry Tutor team at ARA.
From the start, Saul displayed a very mature approach to his studies. He had a clear vision for what he wanted to achieve in the year and always showed a strong focus on all tasks.
Saul was a team player, often the last man on the broom at the end of the day. Leading by example, he empowered others to step up. He impressively achieved a 100% attendance record for the year and was always on time and ready to work after breaks.
Undoubtedly, Saul will make a great apprentice and achieve well within the construction industry. We look forward to following his journey.
Brent studied at the Ara Institute of Canterbury in the pre-trade carpentry programme from Feb to November 2022. From the get-go, Brent was always ready to crack into work, whether in the classroom, out swinging the hammer or tidying the workspace at the end of the day. Brent was always one of the first students to lend a hand to others and set a strong example of teamwork.
Jonty always asks questions for clarification and the reasoning behind why we did certain things a certain way. His keen attitude inspired those around him, helping others with clarification about nailing patterns, placement, measurements etc.
With his tool belt on and ready to go, Jonty showed a curiosity and thirst for knowledge about techniques and skills to further his learning. Keen to bounce ideas off his tutor, he also worked at a construction company while at Ara when he wasn't on the course providing improvements to his work ethic, quality and speed at which he carried out tasks.
