The Canterbury Team currently undertaking additional repair work on the New Brighton Clock Tower structure have come across a Time Capsule laid under the foundation stone. This exciting discovery likely dates back to 1934, the time the structure was erected.
Our Team alerted the Client and were requested to remove the Time Capsule carefully. Using precision tools, they excavated the metal box, which revealed to hold old newspapers from the time. Unfortunately, the box they were in was not waterproof, so the Team have carefully put them out to dry. The Team are incredibly excited to complete the restoration of this heritage icon so they can sit down and have a read of the newspapers found in the time capsule from the time of the original builders almost dating back to 90 years today.
