At Cook Brothers Construction, we encourage our team to think outside the box and find ways of improving their day to day and adding value. For the past three years, our team have run an internal Innovation Award, celebrating the ingenuity of our national team. Each year we have been blown away by the ideas, creations and inspirations behind the innovations that go head to head presenting to our judging panel. This year despite the challenges of a pandemic, the ideas didn't stop - they just got better.
Under the 2020 theme of innovative, deliver, succeed, five finalists were chosen from our numerous national entries to present their pitch.
In a very tight competition, our finalist's ideas ranged from data-based and physical time-saving methods, a creative dust extraction system, app development and on-site hot water stations.
As it goes with competition - there can only be one winner, and this year the award went out to Blair McGill with his app creation The Innovation Station. Blair's idea, under development for over two years, saw the design of a user-friendly app that acts as a data library for innovative ideas—designed so the team can submit and search in one handy location. The Innovation Station will further encourage our team to continually be creative and share innovative ideas so that we can all improve our quality and efficiency of work.
We are continually in awe of our teams' desire to take on the world and to rise up to challenges with innovative solutions. Congratulations again to all those who entered, pitched their idea and pushed the boundaries. We are incredibly excited for the future of innovation amongst our team and to see this app rolled out to our team.
