13s Canterbury Indoor Cricket

Cook Brothers Community was again proud to support the 13s Canterbury Indoor Cricket team with their trip to the Junior Provincial Tournament in Auckland, supporting the team towards the cost of dinners, lunches, and travel.

What a campaign the Canterbury boys had, posting four straight wins to be joint leaders going into the final day. The team played Northern Districts and Wellington Black, who took the gold last year.

The Boys were starting to feel the heat from playing so well the first two days in the humidity of Auckland weather but held it together to make the grand finale against an exceptionally well-drilled Wellington side. Canterbury put up a fight but just fell short of winning the Grand Final.

After the finals, Coach Dale Ferris (Cook Brothers BTM Foreman ) received many messages from the opposing coaches praising the boys on their commitment and on-field manners.

Shout out to young Louie Harris was selected by the NZIC board for the upcoming World Series in Dubai. Also, to their marvellous team manager Chanelle Sefont who manages to feed, mentor and camp mum the young squad of gentlemen selected to manage the NZ 13s team. Both selections are well deserved.

The most successful year by far for the Canterbury 13s in their Junior provincial history, and needless to say, we are all very proud of the team's performance and achievements this year and look forward to next year's campaign to go one step further and bring the gold home.
