About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Leading Hand to join our Wānaka & Central team based in Wānaka. If you take pride in consistently delivering high-quality carpentry and excel in team collaboration, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and contribute to a positive, inclusive Build Team environment
  • Serve as a liaison between the carpentry team and Site Manager (BTM)
  • Manage and coordinate the team and trade partners as needed
  • Lead toolbox talks, complete timesheets, and mentor team members
  • Perform carpentry tasks to the highest standards
  • Ensure consistent quality control
  • Maintain a tidy and efficient work environment
  • Commit to fostering a strong health and safety culture

Your tasks may include:

  • Concrete work, framing, and siteworks
  • Installing hardware, insulation, joinery, windows, and doors
  • Erecting walls, building stairs, and roof framing
  • Trims, finishing, and installing cabinets, trim, and molding
  • Precision tasks: repairing furniture
  • Excavations, demolition, precast erection, and reinforcing steel

Experience and Skills required:

  • Post qualification experience in New Zealand or Australia preferred
  • NZ Trade qualification in Carpentry
  • Commercial build experience preferred
  • Experience working in a Leading Hand position on site
  • Proven ability to deliver on quality and high-level customer satisfaction
  • Ability to work well in team
